In an effort to support a wide range of diverse giving options for our donors, we’ve decided as an organization to begin accepting donations in Cryptocurrency. Some of our community members have already requested to make donations in cryptocurrency because of the tax benefits that come along with gifts of cryptocurrency.
Why should people donate cryptocurrency to your organization (your mission + any emergency or rapid response you are supporting e.g. COVID relief, Afghanistan response).
Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event. Donors do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated crypto that is donated and can typically deduct the fair market value of the donation on their taxes. This often makes Bitcoin, Ethereum and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax efficient ways to support your favorite cause.
